Eight Day Longcase Clocks

The ‘8 day’ refers to the duration of a longcase clock, a week, plus a little bit spare. All tradition British longcase clocks are weight driven. The 8 day clock has two 12-14lbs lead or cast iron weights. As a general rule of thumb, an 8 day longcase clock can be identified by the fact that is has two winding holes through the dial and almost always has a subsidiary seconds dial.
