Moonphase Longcase Clock

Moonphase longcase clocks (brass dial or painted dial) can come in various forms. A ‘rolling’ moon in the arch of the dial is the most common, but they can also appear as a sphere or a ‘penny moon’. All types have the same function which to show the lunar month (29 ½ days) and to show the shape of the moon as it appears in the sky, known as the moon’s phase.
