A fine example of an early 8 day fusee dial clock. Massive rectangular, knopped pillar movement with verge escapement. Well engraved silvered dial signed ‘Jas. Brearley, London’ with Roman/Arabic numerals and lovely brass hands. Heavy, locked cast bezel. Slim concave surround fixed to the mahogany salt-box case. Fine condition & remarkably original.

Very rare 9” wooden dial verge escapement fusee drop dial. The ‘A’ plate line fusee movement with knopped pillars. The convex wooden dial (original paint) is separate from its exceptionally slim surround. Blued steel hands, fine concave locked bezel & snap in convex glass. Lovely little mahogany case with flame veneer to the drop. Pegged ring & usual doors.

Superb large early striking twin fusee dial clock by John Thwaites, no.3500 *. The massive 5 pillar anchor escapement movement striking the hours on a bell, and is seat-board mounted. 14”/36cm one piece mahogany convex dial with original paint. Thwaites counterpoised hands, fine quality locked bezel & slim surround, with crisp turning. Heavy duty mahogany case with large side & locked bottom doors, domed top and flame veneered bottom.

The most magnificent, large fusee drop dial! Handley & Moore movement (no.176) with knopped pillars & shaped shouldered plates, mounted on a ‘bench’ in the case. The dial and surround are one sheet of mahogany 20 ½ / 52cm diameter, the dial itself 18”/36cm. Original dial paint, brass hands, fine brass bezel. The chisel foot case with lovely flame veneer to the front, two side doors & a bottom door.

A large, early & most interesting 8 day fusee dial clock. The massive ‘A’ plate movement stamped ‘J.Thwaites. 861’ (circa 1778) has anchor escapement. The unglazed 18 ½ / 47cm convex solid mahogany dial, with original ground & very beautiful graphics, signed ‘J.Edgecumbe, Bristol’ with water gilt turned edge & lovely brass hands- all very original. Conventional oak salt box case with top extension & side & bottom doors.

A most original small, early 8 day fusee dial clock. The (smaller than usual) ‘A’ plate knopped pillar movement with verge escapement. Convex 10”/25cm silvered brass dial signed ‘Wm Robertson, London’. Fine blued steel hands. Well turned cast brass bezel & mahogany surround which is fixed to the mahogany box which is of ‘salt box’ style but with curved base.

Superb, early fusee drop dial by Mathew Dutton & Son (apprenticed to Thomas Mudge), Fleet street, London, listed 1815-22. Massive ‘A’ plate knopped pillar movement. 14” convex iron dial, blued steel hands. Beautifully turned concave bezel with lock and convex glass. The beautifully proportioned mahogany case with slim concave surround and flame veneer to the front. Usual pegs, two side doors & locked bottom door below moulding.

Fine twin fusee dial clock by John Edgecumbe of Bristol (Listed Britten 1812-18) Massive 5 knopped pillar early anchor escapement movement, striking the hours on a bell. Pendulum hold fast. 11 ½” / 29cm flat silvered brass dial, with Roman & Arabic 15’s. Counter poised blued steel hands. Unique method of method of mounting the movement/dial/case. Fine concave locked bezel. Slim turned surround pegged to the conventional salt box case (case is mahogany). Side and bottom doors.

A fine and rare (if not unique) wall or cartel timepiece by Florimond Goddard, London (listed by Britten 1789-1822). 8 day fusee, ‘A’ plate verge escapement movement, with mock pendulum in the signed, silvered dial. Fine blued steel hands. High quality cast brass locked bezel. The gilded case is of wood, carved in the Rococo style with an access door to the back.

A good & ‘unmolested’ 8” fusee railway dial clock supplied by John Walker, South Molton Street, London. The dial also bearing L.S.W.R 2951. The back box ‘2951 S.W stamp. Quality 8 day line fusee movement, one piece brass/silvered bezel, brass hands. Conventional mahogany case. This clock was reputably from Winchester station.

Rarer than a verge- this early dial clock has tic-tac escapement! The tall narrow movement with knopped pillars & squared stop piece. The 12” one piece wooden dial with original paint, signed Webster of London. Brass hands & very fine locked cast bezel. Very early style multi-ringed surround pegged to a conventional salt box case with the usual side doors, bottom door and extension to the base. (see Ron Rose plate 83). A very rare clock in remarkably original condition.

A very rare 10” striking fusee dial clock. Massive five pillar chain fusee movement with very thick plates, striking the hours on a bell. All superb quality. The dial signed ‘T(Thophilus) Martin, 151 Regent St, London’ (listed 1857-81). Blued steel hands. Cast brass bezel with silvered sight ring. Lovely dome top mahogany case with slim surround, two sound fretted side doors, bottom door, plus door in the back of the box. Lovely colour and condition.

The most beautifully proportioned ‘octagonal drum’ clock I’ve seen. The 8 day line fusee movement with knopped pillars and shaped plates. The convex 10” dial signed Lautier, Bath. (B.Loomes lists Benjamin C.1790-1846, widow Ann 1847-52, daughter Charlotte 1848-54). The mahogany case has a lovely colour and proportions, set off by subtle brass inlays to the front, brass hands, bezel & convex glass. Back & bottom doors.

Rare 8” fusee drop dial. The 8 day lone fuse movement with thick shaped shouldered plates and decorated pendulum shaft. The 8”/20cm convex dial signed “Geo. Pirkis, Strood” (listed 1838-55). Blued steel moon hands, cast brass bezel with convex glass. The mahogany case with its very slim ring fixed to the box, which has the rare flat bottom with decorative brass inlays in the flame veneer front.
