Antique Clock Restoration

At The Clock Work Shop we are able to offer a complete restoration service to clients for their own clocks and barometers.
Most movement work is carried out on the premises in our own workshops and we are used to working on anything from simple timepieces to complicated multi train musical, grand sonnerie and automata clocks. Any replacement parts needed can be sympathetically made in the correct style, including wheels, pinions, verge re-conversions. We can also turn balance staffs, replace jewels or fit new balance springs to platforms. We offer a mechanical watch repair service.
We have our own expert case restorers who can gently clean and maintain the wood’s original patina or completely re-colour and re-finish a case if necessary. Our restorers can re-make mouldings, repair wood or brass inlays, repair marquetry, fretwork, carving, lacquer work and gilding. We can also gold and silver plate items.
Our dial restorers can carefully clean and restore painted dials, maintaining as much of the original art work as possible. We routinely re-silver single sheet brass dials, chapter rings and as well as cleaning and restoring the dial plate and spandrels.
We are also in touch with experts who can cast bells, copy cast mounts and cut, blow or shape glass.
We pride ourselves on the high standards of restoration and conservation we carry out. All our work carries a 3 year written guarantee, and we are confident that we can repair almost anything!
As a company we are used to working on insurance claims or we can supply written valuations, so that your treasure is adequately covered.
We can arrange transport for your clock if required, either locally or internationally.
