A rare and important triple fusee musical automata clock. The 6 pillar knife edge verge escapement movement, with fully engraved backplate etc. Plays one of 4 tunes every hour on 12 bells & hammers, the action of which drive the musician automata on the dial. The scene depicts a port-side inn yard. The dial is signed William Rogers, London, with subsidiary strike/silent & tune change dials. The “French Style” dial with poly-chrome floral decoration , matted centre and sweep-centre calendar hand. Superb quality case with particularly fine choice “chequer” mahogany veneers. Reeded, canted four corners with brass in-fills original finials, handles & feet. A stunning and original clock.
